Executive Link is for alumni of Planning for Profit (or Ranching for Profit). It is designed for those ready to move from learning into implementation. You will join a board of five to six other businesses and with support from trained facilitators, share strategic advice, challenge each other and hold each other accountable for implementation and progress.

Farming can be isolating, particularly when trying new approaches or doing things differently. Executive Link provides the space and a trusted environment where business owners can think openly, share honestly, sharpen thinking, strengthen decision-making and learn from others.

This is not a passive or “rubber-stamp” group. Members should expect challenge, honest feedback and robust discussion based on real evidence. The aim is not to discourage ideas, but to refine them, making them more practical, resilient and effective.

EL is for all types of businesses, not just those in trouble. For many, it’s about sharpening what already works and building on strong foundations.

In sporting terms, think of it like having a coach. It’s designed for people serious about achieving business goals that support the life they want, whether that’s improving performance, tackling challenges, growing profits, seizing opportunities or planning for the future.

Whether you're focused on growth, an exit or a different kind of transition, your path will look different - and that’s the point. Whatever your goals, EL gives you a proven framework and a peer network unlike anything else in agriculture to help you move forward with focus and purpose.

EL requires people to show up. Your board relies on your input just as much as you rely on theirs.

Emergencies happen but, being busy isn’t one of them.

We recognise the commitment: the time away from the business, the financial investment and sometimes the weight that comes with both. It’s not a typical decision, and that’s exactly the point. Returns could be game-changing; even life-changing. A meaningful commitment sets a higher standard and ensures your return is only limited by what you put in. EL is designed to support—and hold—that standard with you.

There’s no minimum size. The only requirement is that someone from your business has completed the course.

Diversity is encouraged, whether you’re established, new, or doing something unconventional. The principles still apply; how you use them is up to you.

You’ll be assigned to a board of five to six farm business owners, supported by a trained facilitator. Each board meets three times per year. Two of the meetings - autumn and winter - are also chapter gatherings (further details below).

One summer meeting is hosted on a board member’s farm and includes a full farm visit alongside facilitated board session. All meetings are supported by Planning for Profit facilitators to ensure structure, focus and strong outcomes.Boards offer strategic input, challenge and accountability. Members are carefully matched - you won’t choose your board—but this is intentional with solid reasons behind it.

Networking is consistently highlighted as one of the most valuable parts of EL. We actively encourage the

development of these relationships and create as many opportunities as possible to strengthen them throughout the programme. As part of a growing international EL network, new opportunities will continue to emerge for members and alumni alike.

You’ll also develop and hone new skills, for example; learning how to contribute as a board member, strengthening business finance skills, being challenged and challenging others respectfully. Equally importantly, EL provides a safe environment to share challenges, to expand your trusted network and reduce making decisions in isolation; all helping to support wellbeing.
